Kitchen scraps from vegetables/fruit only (anything suitable for a compost bin)

Kitchen blender

Funnel

2-quart (2-liter) plastic bottle

Balloon

1 Ask an adult to help you. Collect kitchen scraps such as potato peel, apple cores, banana skins, the outside leaves of lettuces and cabbage, onion skins, and orange peel. Cut everything up small and put it in the blender with a cup of water. Do not overload the blender!

2 Blend everything into a “compost smoothie.” Add more water if you need to. Use the funnel to pour it into the bottle. Half-fill the bottle.
